Pemberton is the home of Pinot Noir in Western Australia with Bill Pannell planting the first Pinot Noir vines in the 1980s. The cold air from the Southern Ocean ensures that the vines are completely dormant in Winter – a key ingredient for quality Pinot Noir production.

Established in 2006, Woodgate is family owned and operated by Mark and Tracey Aitken. The fruit for Woodgate’s wines are sourced from its 3 hectare estate vineyard (in?) and selected parcels of fruit from local grower

Winemaker Mark Aitken was among the first class of graduates of the Bachelor of Science degree in Viticulture and Oenology at Curtin University in 2001. As a mature age student he finished dux and received the Talijancich Radoux scholarship going on to complete a vintage in Chateaux Lynch Moussas in Paulliac, France (Bordeaux) in 2002.
