About our little local wine shop

-Up WA wine shop has a simple mission: to improve people’s knowledge of, and access to, quality locally produced Western Australian wines.

Firstly, we’d like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we operate, the Wadjuk people of the Noongar nation, and pay our respects to their elders past, present and emerging. Thanks to the Wadjuk-Noongar people’s careful management of the land over many thousand’s of years, we have a pristine environment in Western Australia, which enables us to produce world-class wine, beer, spirits, gourmet and fresh produce.

Secondly, we’d like to have a whinge about how little WA wines we see in the most bottle shops, bars and at people’s BBQs here in WA. We have some of THE BEST WINE IN THE WORLD, the problem is, it’s not that easy to get ahold of. That’s where we come in.

A selection of over 250 West Aussie wines (and growing), stored underground in Osborne Park,
ready to deliver to you!

A family-owned side hustle, -Up WA wine shop is a passion project if ever there was one. Chris Kirkby started the business in May 2000 after completing his WSET3 accreditation, and after realising WA wine was underrepresented in all but a few retail outlets in Perth.

All facets of our little business are conducted late at night once we’ve returned from our ‘day jobs’ and put our two toddlers to bed. We want our and your hard-earned money to stay here in WA where possible, so our kids can have more than just a mining-based future.

“-up is a suffix commonly found in place names in Western Australia.\ The suffix originated in a dialect of Noongar, an indigenous Australian language, in which -up means place of”
