About Lillian

After a quarter of a century working at Leeuwin Estate, John Brocksopp now makes wines from Rhone white varietals, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir on his small vineyard near Lefroy Brook at Pemberton. The Burgundian varieties come from the oldest vines in Pemberton, planted in 1982 by his neighbour, upright and droopy for the pinot and gin clones for the Chardonnay. Brocksopp’s own vineyard is on coarse sandy soils with silt and gravel topsoil. His wines are as characterful as the man himself. John’s take is that Australian winemaking tends to be overly protective and wines don’t get enough air.
